ABOUT THIS PROJECT

The Pater Noster is an adaptation from the commissioned Lula’s Prayer – a work for guitar ensemble – and is dedicated to Joseph Jennings.

It was always my intention to fully realize this music for choir after composing the ensemble work, as it lent itself clearly to voices, as well as perfectly serving the lyric of the prayer.
The resulting music pays homage to Bruckner, while reflecting the influence of contemporary masters of the medium such as Lauridsen and Whitacre – but more importantly, it is an honest attempt at capturing the most personal of sentiments…shared between one and the one prayed to.
